‘The physio communicator’ is hosted by Vincent Kortleve, a dutch physiotherapist who is compassioned with the theme of this site.
Vincent is born in 1966, married, and has three daughters. He is a compassionate cyclist. He studied psychology and developed important skills and knowledge from this domain that he considered necessary as a physio. “We physiotherapists are experts in human movement. In order to be effective, it’s important to understand the fundamentals of human behavior and how you can help people change their behavior effectively. That’s why, among other reasons, communication is so very important; to help clients change.”
Vincent works as a physiotherapist in a private practice in a village in the middle of NL. The major part of his weeks he trains and teaches healthcare professionals in all aspects of communication in the Netherlands and Belgium. His main topics are shared decision making, motivational interviewing, pain education, and goal setting. He is a member of MINT, the international network of trainers in Motivational Interviewing.
In 2016 he published a book on communication skills for physiotherapists, in Dutch. The book is used in physiotherapy bachelor education in the Netherlands.
